Google Chrome, the world’s most widely used browser, is preparing to launch a new feature that will help users assess the trustworthiness of websites.

The reportedly AI-powered feature, which is currently in its testing phase, is called “Store reviews.” This feature will provide users with a quick summary of reviews gathered from independent platforms such as Trustpilot, ScamAdvisor, and others.

The summary is displayed in the “page info bubble,” which appears when you click the lock icon or the “i” icon next to the website’s URL in the address bar.

For instance, when you visit a site like “facebook.com,” clicking the lock icon opens an information panel with various details about the site. In the panel, there’s a section called “Store reviews.” Clicking on it will give you a short AI-generated summary of the website’s reputation, gathered from multiple review sources.

As the feature is still in progress, clicking on this button now opens a blank panel, accompanied by a message stating that Chrome will use AI to provide a summary of the website’s reputation based on reviews from independent platforms such as Trust Pilot, Scam Advisor, Google, and more.

By integrating this feature, Chrome users will be able to easily check a website’s reputation without leaving the browser, improving their overall online safety. It’s particularly useful for users visiting unfamiliar or new websites, and it provides a much faster way to get an overall sense of a site’s reputation compared to manually searching through multiple review platforms.

Google has also recently enhanced its Safe Browsing feature in Chrome by integrating AI-powered protection into the Enhanced Protection mode. What was previously known as proactive protection now allows Chrome to use AI to offer real-time security against dangerous websites, downloads, and extensions, providing an extra layer of safety for users.
