Microsoft Invests $700M to Boost AI and Cybersecurity in Poland
Microsoft has announced a major investment of PLN 2.8 billion (approximately $700 million USD) to expand its hyperscale cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in Poland by June 2026. The initiative’s goal is to strengthen Poland’s digital economy, enhance cybersecurity, and create new job opportunities.
The investment will accelerate the growth of Microsoft’s existing data center campuses in Poland, bringing expanded Azure services to meet increasing regional demand. The company aims to drive AI and cloud adoption, enhance economic competitiveness, and equip Polish citizens with the necessary digital skills for an AI-driven future.
“This is an investment in our future, our security, our youth, our startups, and our scholars,” said Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
He highlighted the significance of AI training initiatives and the ongoing development of Poland’s own AI language model, Bielik, as key elements of the investment.
As Poland ranks third in Europe and ninth globally in terms of exposure to cyber threats, Microsoft is collaborating with Polish National Defense to develop a cybersecurity framework. The partnership will focus on AI competencies, cloud computing, and emerging disruptive technologies to fortify national security — especially in light of upcoming elections.
“We appreciate Poland’s critical role in the European Union and are committed to supporting its cybersecurity resilience,” said Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft.
Since launching Poland’s first hyperscale data center region in April 2023, Microsoft has provided cloud services to industries like healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. The company has also pledged to train one million Polish workers in AI, cybersecurity, and digital skills by the end of 2025, building on its previous training of 430,000 people.
Beyond training, Microsoft continues to invest in local businesses, sourcing materials and services from Central European suppliers. It has also donated over $80 million in software and AI solutions to educational institutions and nonprofit organizations in Poland.
Microsoft remains committed to sustainable infrastructure growth, with goals to become carbon negative and water positive by 2030. In Poland, the company has begun securing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for renewable energy and is actively pursuing additional clean energy initiatives.
This investment reaffirms Microsoft’s 32-year partnership with Poland and strengthens the nation’s position in AI, cybersecurity, and the global digital economy.
