Surfshark Unveils Free Data Leak Checker, 10Gbps Server Upgrades, and More
Surfshark has rolled out a series of major updates and releases in October aimed at enhancing user security, speed, and functionality.
Most notably, Surfshark has introduced a free Data Leak Checker, allowing users to check if their email data has been compromised in data leaks. Accessible without a subscription, the tool only requires an email address to search for breaches across databases and malware attacks. Surfshark emphasizes privacy, ensuring that users’ email addresses remain secure, explaining, “Your email will stay private and won’t be used for marketing.”
In addition to the leak checker, Surfshark also received high scores in its latest certification from the antivirus testing organization AV-Test, earning perfect scores of 6/6 in both Protection and Usability categories and 5.5/6 in Performance. This recognition reinforces Surfshark’s commitment to security standards, with the company expressing its dedication to maintaining quality, stating, “This certification reaffirms our Antivirus performance in an industry where we prioritize top-notch protection for our users.”
The company has also enhanced speed across its network, upgrading all of its servers to 10Gbps to enable faster connections. Users can now enjoy this improvement without needing to select specific servers for faster data transfers or to avoid overcrowding.
In a push to provide enhanced accessibility, Surfshark has made its app available on Flathub for Linux users, expanded its dedicated IP options with new locations in Denver and Singapore, and launched an updated Online Safety Course on Udemy, available at no cost. The course includes seven modules, quizzes, and resources designed to help users identify online scams.
Mobile updates include new functionalities for both OSs, including improved widgets as well as a new option to tunnel website URLs using the Bypasser feature. Finally, its windows app now uses x64 architecture by default.
